Hi, I bought a C harmonica and learned the notes (C to C / 4-7 holes).

I got an A harmonica to take these lessons and I have been looking at the sheet music.

The first not is B. - but the first note (tab type, at the bottom) is 3.  (G# and E according to charts is on 3.)

Is there something I can read to understand why? Or should I just blow what it says on the bottom and it will work itself out

as I progress?

Hello Cristy. Everything

Hello Cristy. Everything written on the site is in C Score... as if you're playing on a C Harmonica. Since each harmonica is an intervalic carbon-copy of the other, we only need to "think" and read on one harmonica. This way you can get fast at reading, and you just grab whichever key of harmonica you would like to play and the harmonica does the transposing for you. This is a better solution than asking students/performers to memorize twelve major keys and 12 major keys of harmonica layouts.
