Hello David,

I have been working on the level one song Walk with Me for about 2 and half months now.  I am able to play along with the 15% slow version.  I was trying to play with just the jam track and then realized I get lost in counting when the third chorus come along.  So I went back and played the 15%version with you playing and I started counting my way through the song and realized I can't identify where I should be in the 3rd, some of the 4th  and some of the 5th chorus.  In my mind it woud make it easier if I knew where the one counts(or fourth) landed.  Does that make sense?  I have been listening to the jam track to become familiar with the chord changes and I can count along the entire song. I just can't make the transition to play with the jam track. Suggestions???

Thank you,

David Saccucci

Good evening David. You're

Good evening David. You're doing exactly the right thing. Try also counting along with the original track focusing on being able to "feel" beat 1, eventually clapping on all beat 1's. After you feel confident with beat 1, move to clapping beat 2... then 3 and finally 4.

Wherever you have a challenging area in regards to rhythm look at the notes and define where each of the notes start in the bar and how long to hold them.

As you stated, a lot of listening is key to this. The first songs you learn will take a while to get dialed in with the jam track, but as each song comes it will come faster and faster to you.

This is the most challenging part of music, work diligently, but be patient with yourself.

Thank You
