Wait after adjusting?
Kinya,After setting up a harp or doing a tune-up - I want to play! However - I've always had this nagging feeling (with no observational evidenve to back this up - yet) that I should wait (a day? 2 days?)- to let the reeds settle. In a previous question you advised leaving high reeds alone for a day or so after a tuning attempt and not fiddling with them too much at once. In your experience do you find that after gapping and / or tuning a harmonica (not just high reeds) you should wait before playing to let the adjustments take shape? Or does this not matter? The reeds seem to drift out of tune no matter what so I can't help but want to play them while they sound the best - but is this keeping reeds from holding their notes / shape better in the long run? I have no reason to think this. Can you shed any light on this issue?
Thanks!
For me, making music always trumps waiting ;o)
For my customer's instrument, I usually allow the harmonica to "settle" a minimum of one week (depending on the extent of the work), before shipping out.
