Hello Baruch. It could be that you're bending unintentionally (with your tongue). Focus on doing the Wa and paying attention to your tongue... if it moves, you're the one doing the bending. Try the Wa with Harp Ninja... if it moves, your tongue is again doing the work. If not, than the tone change of the hands opening is fooling you that the pitch is changing.
