Hi Skip, really digging the masco chronicles. I just got a really cool Voice of Music 165 amp in the  original cabnet with two  8" speakers and tweeter.  This thing rips!  It has a extention speaker jack on the back labeled speaker 2 ,when I plugged a extention 8ohm cab with a 10" spkr in to it I noticed it was still playing threw the 8s also. isnt it supposed to play just threw the extention cab? The speakers are wired in seires and goes into the amp which looks like a a plug like a masco pa octal speaker connections , is that plug removable? I wanted to open the amp up and check out the guts but not sure if the spkr thing was removable.  Oh one more thing, how do you take the volume, tone knobs off.

Hello Bluevan-  Fun, fun, fun!   There are lots of strange old amps out there that can sound groovy for harp.   The "speaker 2" jack is supposed to be that way.  It would be a great learning opportunity for you to re-wire it!   The Masco-style speaker plug should pull straght out.  If the knobs don't have set-screws, then they will just pull straight off.

Fuse

So I went into amp and changed the old caps out ,I left the big can cap and it's still dead quiet,  I know it's not safe to assume anything but there is no hum so is it safe to say its still good? I noticed that there is no fuse on the amp. Should I put one in, what rating Would be best?  It still has the 2 prong cord. Thanks Skip   After I posted this I broke one of the preamp tube socket contact pins  off while trying to change a resistor. I was gonna get a BElton 9pin but not sure what the difference is between a bottom mount and top mount , which one should I get? hopefully I dont mess the install up, I was thinking about taking to a tech but I think the cost would be to much so I'm gonna go for it. Any advise on the removal/ install would be great. Looks like I have my hands full.

Hello Bluevan- I think what you really want to know is whether or not your amp is running as well as possible, and I can't tell you that without seeing it.  I'd say the can cap is OK, but the amp certainly may have other issues.

A two-amp fuse would be a good idea.

I do apologize  for a question that I know can't be answered over the net.    Oh  and  If I can't swap out the broken preamp socket I just might have to send it to you.  Right on Skip!
