Verse Forms in the song The Strut
Tue, 07/14/2026 - 12:44
Going through the last stretch of my Level 4 LOA (Improvizing) and looking into The Strut Verse Forms.
I guessed the forms right for all but the 7th Chorus, and don't understand it even when I checked the answer sheet.
How can the 7th Chorus be of the form A B/ A C.
To me it looks like ABC
A short explanation will help me understand this topic better.
Thanks a lot
Vladan

Hello Vladan. The A lick is the first two bars. It then repeats for bars 3 and 4 (this A A = A). We then get a type of sequence for the IV Chord (the A lick moved to match the notes of the IV Chord), this is the B. In bars 7 and 8 the A lick comes back. Then it moves off to a V-IV-I lick and turnaround, which is C.
