Hi Kinya!  What is that UST tool you're referring too in the video series (gapping, level 2), I tried to look it up, but can't find it. Any official name or number? I tried "Universal sizing tool" but it did not work. Thank you.

Reed Slot Tool from Richard Sleigh

Hi Stef

Inventor, Dick Sjoberg sold his design to Seydel Harmonicas, and it morphed into another tool ...

Fortunately, there is a superior solution from Richard Sleigh. On this forum, check out the review I wrote back on September 21, 2014. Here is the address:

Hi, guys.

Does any of you have a good option easy to get?

I don't know if those can be sent to my home, i've used a coin but I'm not very happy.

Thanks and good day.

To fully emboss (a.k.a.

To fully emboss (a.k.a. burnish, size) a reed plate slot, you must reach the very back corner of the slot (nearest the reed pad). This can be accomplished with the proper tools built for this purpose. I am currently using Richard Sleigh's reed plate burnising tool.

I noticed you saw the DIY Reed Tool on this FORUM site as well. This jewel should work for you.

If this is outside the scope of your work, and you are only interested in embossing the rest of the reed plate slot, I would recommend using the rounded heal of a pair of tweezers. Apply a little bit of chap stick (wax) to the heal and it will reduce the bumpy feedback that some reed plates give. Instead it will glide easily as you navigate the tool up/down the slot.
