Hello!

I have a few gigs coming up  (small to medium sized Brew Pubs) and I want to use BOTH my VHT Special 6 and my Kalamazoo Model II concurrently, with an ABY Switcher. Can you please advise me how you might set this up?

My Kalamazoo has a line out, so I’ll want to line out (with a Direct Box) to the PA so I can get a little extra power.

So, how would I best arrange these pieces (what’s the chain order)?

·        VHT Amp

·        Kalamazoo Amp (with line out)

·        ABY Switch

·        Direct Box

·        RP350 Effects Pedal

·        SM57 Microphone

Finally, how would you position the two amps on stage?

Thank you!

Heath

2 Amps

Heath,

If you use the Digitech RP350 effects unit, then running two amps is very simple, and does not require the use of an ABY switch.

What you do is connect your microphone to the guitar input jack on the RP350, then using a pair of guitar cables you connect from the 1/4" output jacks on the back of the RP350 to the input of each amp.

You have a pair of XLR connections on the back of the RP350, and either one or both could be sent to the PA system, only issue is that it will be alot cleaner than the line out from the amp.  To use the amp line-out, connect with a guitar cable to the 1/4" input jack on the direct box.

Arrange the amps with seperation as space permits behind you, or better yet put one behind you and the other in front - tilted back as a wedge monitor.  The sound on stage with a pair of amps fed by a stereo signal is HUGE!

Hope this helps.
