Tools for a First-Timer?

Hi Kinya,

Several of my harps need tuning, but I haven't done it before and I'm a little nervous of doing damage while trying to get the hang of it. What tools would you recommend for a first-time tuner? I've read some suggestions for emory boards or detailing sandpaper from a craft store. What are your thoughts?

Welcome aboard PM42. My recommendations are for you to:

Review Harp Tech Series #3 and #7 on this web site. Both tutorials focus on tuning methodology and required tools. The Harp Tech Series are hidden gems buried deep inside the bluesharmonica.com treasure chest:

  1. Navigate your computer cursor to the top of this screen
  2. Select EQUIPMENT
  3. Page down and select HARMONICAS
  4. Select and study Harp Tech Series 3, then grab a snack and a beverage, return to
  5. View and study Harp Tech Series 7

After you have gotten into the weeds with tuning, return to this forum page so we can chat about your progress.
