Hi Dave

I'm currently going through 'temperature' tong block study 2. When do I use tonge switching? Should I learn how to switch whenever playing hole number 1. For example when working down holes 3draw, 2draw should I switch to do the 1draw. This seems a bit difficult and doesn't really make sense. However I want to learn good technique.

Cheers

Adam

Answer

Hello Adam. Yes, tongue switch when playing hole 1. If you've been playing for a while with a pucker 1, then you can keep puckering 1 if you wish (just take your tongue off the harmonica after playing hole 2). Still work on switching for areas like Bar 9 of the 4th Chorus. If you're new to the harmonica, then yes, tongue switch for the 1, you'll become extremely fast at this switch over time.
