I read your tip of the day about using your foot as a metronome. I find this extremely difficult and have been working hard on doing it. It reminds me of tapping your head with your hand and going in a circle with the other hand on your stomach, but much more difficult. I also play guitar and want to play both the guitar and harmonica at the same time, which falls into this same category, keeping time and doing 2 things at once. Is there any tips, tricks, or lessons that will help or do I just need to put in the painfully slow time of getting better at it?

What I started doing is tappng my foot to a metronome, and playing Walk with me. I figured that's a good place to start.

Answer

Yes, that's a good approach with Walk With Me... learning a piece of music and then learning to tap your foot in time with it. As time goes on you'll be able to do this without separating the learning process. It's not mandatory to tap your foot while playing, though if you do develop this technique your rhythm will improve and you'll be able to use your foot as an indicator of when your rhythm is off (the foot stalls).
