So I was cleaning my windsavers out the other day and wasn't careful enough. I ended up creasing one. So I thought... "hmmm.... Maybe I'll just take it off, place it between some paper and iron it out". Of course it shrunk immediately to 1/4th the size. So now I have to order a 7 pack of the same hole windsavers from Hohner ($9 + $9 shipping and handling for a piece of plastic). My question, is how do I go about putting it back on? What's the best adhesive to use and any tips or things I should be careful about?

Any advice would help.

Thank you,
Taylor

Use Duco cement in the green

Use Duco cement in the green tube - this is what several techs favor. Super glue tends to dry too hard and crack.

In general you should avoid glue that forms spider-web strands when you pull away from it, as these strands can get entangled with both reeds and windsavers.

To apply, I like to put a very small dab of glue on a piece of paper or other convenient, disposable surface, and then dip the heel of the windsaver in the glue, just enough to get glue on the underside of the heel of the valve, around the dimple. You want enough glue to fasten the valve, but not so much that it smears around or gets in the reed slot.

With glue on the heel of the valve, apply it to the rivet area at the end of the slot. Align the valve so that it reaches to the end of the slot and covers both edges. Hold down firmly with finger pressure for several seconds, making sure that the valve is lying flat. Remove the finger, let set for a few minutes, and then test by playing the reed.

Sweet! Thank you. So much

Sweet! Thank you. So much more help than the Hohner tech who said they "had to be factory welded on". (?!)
