Hi David,

I'm just trying to understand the chord progression in this study song. Am I wrong to assume that you'd always stay within the I chord position of 2 or 3+ or 6+ or 9+ or would that be the job of who's accompanying you to keep within that chord structure while you're pretty much just soloing in this song? Otherwise it looks like a III IV V progression. Maybe I'm overthinking it and this would be obvious as I progress but had to ask.

Thanks,

Hugh

Hello Hugh. "Temperature"

Hello Hugh. "Temperature" uses the standard 12 Bar Blues chord progression. Probably the most to-the-point lesson on this subject is here http://www.bluesharmonica.com/lessons/accompaniment_study_2, with the following studies defining the full chord.

Chord Progression

David,

I guess what I meant to say was the root note for the I chord using the A harp is an E but in this song you're using a G# with the 3 draw so how far can you stray from the I/IV/V root notes and have it still sound right?

Thanks,

Hugh

Thank you for clarifying

Thank you for clarifying Hugh. The G# is the 3rd of the I Chord (E G# B)... any chord tone will work. You'll learn more about this in the Accompaniment Lessons.
