Hello Harp Techs, on chromatic harmonicas, a sticking windsaver will prevent the reed from working properly. This occurance happens when a layer of saliva/protein "glues" the windsaver to the reed plate. Rarely does it happen at a convenient time--like just before a performance ;o)

Try this trick for quick relief:

Lens cleaning tissue is a non-lint and affordable product that works well to clean windsavers

Slide a piece of lens cleaning tissue under the windsaver

Apply light pressure on the windsaver, then slide the tissue straight out towards the free end. Be careful not to bend the windsaver! Repeat about 6 times, or until you are satisfied that you’ll get through your next performance.

Maintenance

Kinyasan,

Great post. I have a question in the near future I want to purchase  Chomatic Harmonica From the standpoint of maintenance for the Hohner CX 12 or Deluxe 270 which is easier to work on?

Hands down--the Hohner CX12.

Hands down--the Hohner CX12. It's the chromatic harmonica work horse. Darn thing keeps working! I always have one in the studio and one in the main house as well.
