Hi David. Glad to start this harmonica journy with you. I live in Israel and would love to get a TBT. Could you please send me a link to a 3D printed one?

tongue blocking, shifting notes

Hi

Brand new, practicing tongue blocking, ordered a TBT, not here yet.

Question is regarding switching notes across the harmonica. Having a very hard time switching from, for example, a 4 to a 6 or a 6 to an 8 and back again. Relatively easy to switch from the 4 to a 5, etc but skipping a note is very hard. Since I can't see where my tongue hits the harmonica is there a technique to use to move up and down and find the correct note.

Thanks

Steve

Hello Steve, and welcome to

Hello Steve, and welcome to the site. This is just reps. The movement that it takes to move from 4 to 5, double that movement to get to 6, and use your ears to help tell you if you're on the correct note. As harmonica players, it's not a tactile reference, it's an auditory reference (in other words, we use our ears to tell us where we are on this blind instrument). Trying to copy something I've recorded (like your study song) is most helpful, since you can hear what you're trying to copy.
