Recently I saw Sugar Blue playing. I was impressed by the fast riffs he plays. In fact if i listen to some of Sugar Blue CDs, he is using quite often the same riffs. I checked youtube but I could find only Hakan Ehn explaining a bit. Does someone know where I can find some more material about Sugar Blue style?

Luv Sugar Blue

The bass player of my band John Sykes (rip) used to play with Sugar Blue in Chicago. I know at first he listened to a lot of Stevie Wonder and even Bob Dylan and would also try to mimic saxophone parts from big band music. Then he heard about Sonny Boy Williamson and a few others that changed his life according to him.

David wrote a transcription

David wrote a transcription book on him. You can find it sometimes on amazon or check it out through your library on wordcat. There's easy and hard play. Just take it slow and slow it down. Sugar claims to tounge block 100% of the time btw.
