Here's a nifty trick I came up with independently (maybe others have realized this too.)

So I usually use tongue-block slaps but occasionally I will use a big "lip-block draw slap" if I feel like I'm accumulating a lot of spit in my harp and I'm not going to be able to jean-clear it anytime soon during a song. I find it works best on a 3 draw (assuming holes 1-6 are getting clogged). The upper area of my harp also seems to get clogged up fast when I'm doing blow-draw octave stuff up there. If you do the same thing with the 8 hole draw, it can help too. I choose the 8 draw because it's in the middle and works well on the I and V.

A "lip block slap" on a 3 draw would consist of briefly drawing on holes 12345 and then quickly closing into a lip block embouchure around the 3 draw. Something about sucking down from 12345 to 3 quickly seems to suck more spit out than simply doing a 1234 draw chug and can sound less out of place if you're not doing a lot of cording in the song.

I know it's gross but it's a lot less awkward than getting a clogged reed in the middle of a solo and having to play around it or tap it out.

Don't forget that the

Don't forget that the flamboyant quick slide down to the 1 draw can sound cool at the beginning at the V and can clean out most of the used range of your harp.
