Hi David

I know the answer already to this question;-) 'You're playing with way too much pressure!'

I have been practising the new LOA-5 song and as it's so difficult (for me) I have be pressing the harmonica in to my mouth with  far too much pressure.

I'm now try to reduce this and play more relaxed. My playing is suff a bit as I'm now focusing on this more than the playing but I j ow I need to do it.

The thing I'm wondering is if this is a common occurrence for someone to revert to bad habits / tense up after a few years of playing well/relaxed?

Cheers

Richard

Hello Richard. Sure, it's not

Hello Richard. Sure, it's not uncommon for players to revert back to playing too hard/tense when working on a challenging piece of music. Your focus is to remind yourself when tension starts to creep in that there's no benefit to it, and then relax. I remember when first learning how to tongue block bend for example, I had to remind myself of this constantly. You'll get it, keep at it.

Thanks.

Cheers David.

Yes, it's hard to not let these things give you a bit of a knock and feel as though you've taken a bit of a backward step.

I'm trying to use it as a positive and using the few days (I hope that's all it takes for my gums/teeth to settle down) to learn the Chromatic (I'm less tensed as I have nothing to prove to myself lol)

I have to say I'm really enjoying the linear position of the notes. :-)

Thanks again David

Sounds like a plan. Working

Sounds like a plan. Working on your music theory is also a good idea.
