I did pick up the CX12 to help me with my 5 hole Octaves and my U block tendency.

More deeper and feel a definite flat blocking of the tongue. I have been presenting the harmonica too front on. I have to angle it back and feel a flatness of the tongue. I was not doing that.

My request is, I can't find Chromatic Song books that would help me with my skills. It would be very cool if it had mp3s or a .midi file to play with.

Any suggestions, Winslow. You have been very kind to me.

Chromatic songbooks

Hi, Will.

If you're looking for blues chromatic books, Dave Barrett has at least one out there.

For more general repertoire, Phil Duncan has several chromatic songbooks, published through Mel Bay. I'm not intimate acquainted with them, but you might check them out on the Mel Bay website.

Hope this helps.

Songs For Chromatic Harmonica

I received Duncans book. It had a lot of theory, very few songs.

I just ordered David's book.

Do you have any straight forward Blues Chromatic Songs that I could work on. I read your Mel Bays article about tongue blocking and that you show where to put the tip of the tongue behind the bottom teeth.
I am going to try that. When I take the cover plate off of the CX12 I see that I have the UBlock made.

It is a real problem. I believe docking the tip of the tongue behind the front teeth will help.

Is that correct?

Tongue tip

I'd change that to resting the tip of the tongue on the lower lip, slightly under the lower cover.

The main point is to block holes with the broad, moist upper surface of the tongue, not with the tip. That allows you to cover a wider spread of holes, and also helps avoid poking your tongue into the holes, where it can get sliced by the slide.
