Hi Kinya

I want to smooth Special 20 plastic comb edges (picture). The left one rubs when I play to 1-hole.

What grit size sandpaper should I use? I don't want scratches on the plastic comb...

I also want to smooth the cover where it folds to form sharp 90-degree angle.

Or any fine sandpaper will do?

Thank you for the post. I'm

Thank you for the post. I'm sorry for the delayed response. I was just informed that Kinya will be out for a while, recovering from an unscheduled surgery. He is doing well, but needs time to recoup. I have asked another expert to answer your question in the interim. We will be back to you as soon as possible with an answer. Thank you for your patience.

Smoothing the Special 20 edges

I use a super fine file for these kind of jobs and finish up with 500 grit emery cloth. The file I use is a Grobet #4 pillar file , about 8 inches long, half inch wide.

If you don't want to spend this kind of money (I can't remember what I paid for it years ago, but it could run into $20 - $30 easy with shipping...

Then you could do the corners with some 220 grit emery cloth on a flat surface & get the sharp edges on the cover plates with a fine fingernail file or emery board, the kind that look like popsicle sticks...

then finish up with the 500 grit emery cloth
