Hi David,

I checked out your topic on "playing with the band" relating to the different rhythms / grooves/ styles commonly known when performing with a band and it's really helped me gain an understanding of this aspect when having to describe what I am looking for as say a "harp" front man.. so thank you !

I do have a question, hoping it's OK to ask:

The tune Sleeping in the Ground - Sammy Myers, it's a shuffle I gather heavy back beat but with a 12/8 element too?

Would you call it a 12/ 8 solely or say a "shuffle with a 12/8" not sure how to get my head around qualifying it.

Is this a good example of particular shuffle groove?

Kind regards

Julien (UK)

Good question Julien. I would

Good question Julien. I would say "12/8 slow blues," or slow blues and when I count I would say "1 and uh 2 and uh" etc., to indicate the triplet feel.
