When I went back to catch up on Joe Tartaglia, I noticed that you said you didn't put a notation for slaps in the tabs. Since I see them in the tune I'm working on now, I assume you changed your policy since that video was made.

Your explanation to Joe was in line with my normal practice. I'm kind of used to slapping most everything and playing a single note without a slap when it really makes sense. So, my question is this:

Can I ignore the slap notations and go with the feel of the tune without incurring your wrath when you review my submission? Or do you want us to stick to the way you have it written?

Answer

You're correct, I decided to add them in for some of the early lessons... the main reason being that many students forget that the slap is one of the main reasons why we tongue block.

Sure, slap what makes sense to you. When listening to your submission if I feel a particular passage will sound better slapped, I'll point it out. It's of course up to you to use what I suggest or not.
