Hi David,

Do you ever slap bent notes? I haven't been. Like the pull-slap, is it something I should start implementing into my playing eventually?

Answer

I do slap into bends if the passage is using slaps and pulls. Doing a bass line is a good example... the IV Chord: 1+ P 2+ P 2 P 3" P 3' P 3" P 2 P 2+ P I would commonly slap those bends.

Pull-slaps can also be done, but will have a more "snipped" sound... a little less common. Pull-slaps are one of those techniques that naturally show up in one's playing if they use a lot of slaps and pulls. You could of course practice it, but it's not as important for this technique since it commonly shows up in your playing within time anyways.
