Been working on slapping the 1 hole for a bit. Is it just me or does the slap sound odd given the notes being slapped down on are all higher than the target note? I'm also working on pulling the 1 hole after the slap. It's a bit of a tongue exercise but I'm wondering if there's much practical application? Thanks!

Answer

You're right, it does sound a little strange. For that reason it's very uncommon to slap hole 1... you pretty much only hear it in prewar blues harmonica. The 1 draw pull is really a 2 draw pull (1 and 2 draw together).
