Hello,

I am wondering how to slap the 3' that starts chorus 3 in My Blues (great study song!). I can dip it and stop at 3', but it seems I first need to "take a reference" by touching the harmonica.

Should I be able to "blindly" take the right position (3"), then slap without losing it? If I could do that, I suppose I could flutter a bent note? Is that the right exercise to aim for?

Éric

Hello Éric. I'm glad that

Hello Éric. I'm glad that you're enjoying the study.

You can skip slapping that bend. Since I did it when recording, I notated the slap.

To answer your question though, the key is that at the very moment that your tongue touches the face of the harmonica for the slap that your tongue is humped up for the bend. So, the tongue both hits the face of the harmonica for the slap and is in an arched position for the bend.
