Hi Greg and everyone.

Has anyone used Silverfish mics, specifically the Silver Bullet Dynamic Special Mini 50KΩ Dirty/Lo-F?

I'm thinking of that one as a new mic to try and am curious of expert opinion and experience with it. I'm chasing a fat, Chicago blues tone. :-)

His does it compare with the bulletini?

Thanks!

Eric

Hi, EricAs the manufacturer

Hi, Eric

As the manufacturer of the Bulletini, I don't think you can count on me for an objective answer. I can tell you the Bulletini is a phenomenally successful microphone and any search of Facebook "what mic should I buy" tends to be overwhelmed with a boatload of responses praising the Bulletini. It is very, very hard to beat the tone of the Bulletini.  It is considerably smaller and therefore easier to cup - which is a huge factor in getting great tone. (Bulletini 1.7" diameter, Silverfish 1.97" diameter.)

I have never personally played the Silverfish mic. He doesn't say what element is in it. I CAN tell you that Tim Douthit owns a Bulletini - so I'd encourage you to reach out to him and ask what he thinks. There is no better way to know than to play both yourself; the second best way is to ask someone whose tone your respect who has.

Hey Greg,

Thanks very much for your detailed response. I really appreciate it.

I have followed up with you by emailing your website email (on Blowsmeaway.com) with a few logistical and administrative questions (that probably don't need to be posted here) about getting a bulletini shipped up here to Toronto.

Thanks again!Eric
