Hello Greg I have a old Shure Commando 430 mic.I really love these mic and I hope you can help me. It works but someone of my friends who plays on stage says it works not great. He says when I giving pressure on thes mic that might be interrupting.  I don't realise that but it's not excluded that that is true.Is there a proper (easy with no pecial tools) way to test the mic by my self to figure out if the mic is OK or maybe not OK?What does the guy mean by giving pressure, I am not really sure what he mean by that. Blowing Chords maybe!?  Thx in advance for your answer. Greetings

Eddie :-)

Hi, Eddie When you have a

Hi, Eddie

When you have a good airtight cup, blowing a big chord can "bottom out" the diaphragm of a mic - i.e., it stops moving back and forth with the sound waves and just gets pinned. The same thing can happen on a strong draw chord. ANY element can be muted this way although they vary a LOT from mic to mic. If you can loosen your cup a tiny bit when you blow big chords, and that works - play the mic. If if "chokes" easily and gets in the way of your playing, though? Find another mic. This is not a "feature" of A Shure 430. Your particular one might be bad -in which case finding another might be a solution. Cheers

Hello Greg. Thanks for your

Hello Greg.

Thanks for your quick answer and your help.

I love that mic because I have no big hands, its easy to cup for me and the mic is so nice retro. :-)

At he moment I wont give up, it sounds great (when everthing works) in my opinion and I have the feeling that the mic has a connecting problem wich comes propaply from the adaper insteed of the element.

But I am not really sure yet, I have to test my mic at the weekend more extensive in this direction.

My mic comes with a two pin female connector and has a adapter for a 6,3 plug. The brand of the adapeter is Rean, propaply China. (Must not be bad!)

I have done a soundtest with big chords. Is it possible to send to you the file. That makes more sence and maybe it brigs a bit more light into the dark.

Cheers Eddie
