OFF the GROUND

Hello Everyone!

Many of us, through music, find comfort and solace in times of diversity. During my recovery from Thoracic Spine Surgery three years ago, I fell into the pit of despair. With the assist from Barbara, "Mrs. Harpsmith" and the lyrics from the Record Company's song, "Off the Ground" I was able to recover and prosper!

Inspired, I connected with the amazing Tom Landry--my Bandmate of over 60 years (now living in Nashville, TN), and we recorded "Off the Ground". This time with HARMONICA (Hell Yeah!). The credits include: continue reading...

Jimmy's Reed (Solo Harmonica)

I thoroughly enjoyed learning to play the study song Jimmy's Reed. I liked it even better when I realised it translates very nicely into a solo harmonica piece.

There are a few licks changed here and there, because I'm mainly doing it from memory and I've not gone back to reference the original much. Anyway, I dig this tune. Hope you enjoy.

I'm continuing to learn and enjoying the lessons. This song sort of features my new tremolo skills.

Enjoy! I apologize if the song offends anyone.

Good day! I am a musician, but a "beginning" Blues Harmonica player. I've been a Bluesman for decades and I own harmonicas, but didn't take it seriously until now. Just to share, attached is kind've a Country song of mine where I'm playing every instrument including the harmonica. I'm really looking forward to the upcoming lessons in Levels of Achievement.

Take care, y'all. Remember the Blues ain't nothing but a good man. or woman feeling bad.

Swingin' "The Big One"

A bit of fun here. Working on "The Big One," but having trouble keeping up with the rock blues tempo on David's backing track for it, and not anywhere close to nailing the two choruses in the middle on diatonic. So ... here are the eight chromatic choruses only, to a slower swing backing track. Equipment: Backing track through a Roland Cube30 amp; Hohner C CX12 chromatic through an Ultimate 57 mic and Danelectro FAB delay pedal into a Lone Wolf Blues HarpTrain amp; both amps caught by a Shure MV5 mic into my iPhone. continue reading...

Inspired by David's great "Sonny's Bird" and the new fundraiser CD compilation "Low Blows for Ida," I thought to myself, "How low can we go???" Here's my recording of "Sonny's Bird" on a Low A harp (Seydel Low Tone) that my wife gave me a few years ago as a gift.

what a wonderful word

This is Sonny's Bird, Sonny Boy Williamson II artist study song. Still a lot to improve, but this was really fun.

Hope I get your feet stomping!
