Monday Blues

This isn't as planned as it probably should be. I threw it together today but started to run out of ideas pretty quickly - hence the fade out! Also, the guitar part is looped and you can hear the splice - I can't play guitar that well and couldn't manage to get much beyond a single 12 bars without messing it up, but I needed a quick backing track so it had to do.

The road is so long

This is a version of The road is so long by Carey Bell. I recorded it live at home with my friends. I've tried to put my different influences in my playing for this tune. It's not in the Carey Bell style but I improvised and tried to mix different stuff . Thanks for listening.

Tongue Block Boogie

Something I did for the jam at HarmonicaBoogie with a bt by "NotSureYet". Lots of good free bt's there if you are looking.
http://jamq.org/jamqueue/harmonica/hbmainstage/btracks.php

After a couple of tries at the local Sunday jam. I'm trying to work up more courage to use vocals. This is a safe venue so pretty simple lyrics and a total TB effort to pay homage to the bt title and what I've learned from David. Nothing too fancy but it was fun to put together. Also an opportunity to learn blending tracks in Garage Band. As always, appreciate any comments.

Soft low blues

Inspired by George Harmonica Smith to try some 3rd position playing.

1st chorus is the head in 3rd position on a G harp - I hope it's an original lick but usually when I think I'm making stuff up it turns out a few days later that I hear it on a record and realise it isn't mine at all!

2nd chorus - 3rd position again, kept it simple and threw in some wah wahs.

3rd chorus - 2nd position on a low D harp (don't know 3rd position well enough to vary my playing - hence the switch) continue reading...

Feelin' for the Blues

This is a live performance at Mark Hummel's Blues Harmonica Blowout in 2006 at Yoshi's nightclub in Oakland, California. For the construction process I started with the hook you hear on the guitar and bass. My main focus was that I wanted something with a lot of feeling and something that connected with the audience... that was 100% my goal. In most of the songs that I write I like to work out the head and use Chorus Forms, but I didn't want it for this song... I wanted pure emotion. continue reading...
