I watched the videos on setting the zero point at .002, but I'm not sure what this does for the playability of the harmonica? Also, what does adjusting how the reeds enter and exit the slot achieve?

Zero Point

Hey Taylor
All mechanical devices--from toasters to Corvettes--have optimal tolerances between two surfaces. If too close, the moving part will stick, too far and efficiency will be lost.

The tighter you can close the gap between the swinging reed and stable reed plate, the less air will be required to vibrate the reed. This means it will require less effort for you to control your instrument--especially volume and bends.

If you have already experienced the euphoria of playing a harmonica with properly gapped free end reeds, just imagine how amazing life can be with an-even-more responsive harmonica ... well that would be setting the Zero Point.

Your Harpsmith,
Kinya
