This question refers to the sequence of the study plans, such as the one on this page:

http://www.bluesharmonica.com/beginning_study_plan

I get the general idea that at some points in the lesson plans, we will doing two or more Study sections at a time. For example, while we are working on "Beginning Section Two"...we will be working on three sub topics:

- Tongue Blocking Study 1 (Walk With Me)
- Movement Exercises Study 1 - Patterns (but, only the portions of the exercises without bending)
- Solo Harmonica Study 1

I think this is great, and keeps us moving around to fresh concepts that are related to each other in small digestible chunks. What we learn in one sub topic applies to and helps us in the others...its great.

However, has anybody ever put together a more specific sequence that establishes *exactly* what order to do the lessons within each study? For example, the study plan says "As you're working on "Walk with Me," also work on Movement Exercises Study 1... the portions of the exercises without bending. Use this as a warmup exercise each day. "

Well, we don't know which exercises in "Movement Exercises Study 1" don't have bending unless we watch them all...none of the lesson titles indicate if the lesson contains bending/no bending.

Or, "Also work on Section 1 of Solo Harmonica Study 1" It's not clear what this refers to since Solo Harmonica Study 1 isn't listed by Section 1, Section 2, etc. Does this mean do the first section, which is called "Solo Study 1: Opening", or does it mean do Examples 1.1- 1.15?

Of course, we could do either/both and end up just fine, but It would be helpful to have a line-by-line syllabus that looks kind of like this:

BEGINNING SECTION 1
1. All lessons in "Blues Harmonica Fundamentals", in order

BEGINNING SECTION 2
2. TB 1: Section 1 - Getting started with Tongue Blocking
3. ME 1: Section 1 - Breathing, Movement, Ear Training & Mental Model
4. Solo Study 1: Opening
5. TB 1: Section 2 - Study Song “Walk with Me”
6. ME1: Section 2 - Movement Scale
.
.
20. TB 1: Closing Thoughts
22. Solo Study 1: Bass Lines
23. Solo Study 1: Closing
24. ME4: Section 4 - Application
25. Submit your recording for "Walk With Me"

BEGINNING SECTION 3
etc.
etc.
etc.

Hello ezee. I get your point, thanks for writing. A couple of quick things. If you look at the PDF for Solo Harmonica Study 1 you'll see that it is labeled in sections. Also note that in the Lessons page that you can click on "View By Skill Level," which helps a student see what's appropriate for them. I get your point though. To address what you're speaking of, we've been developing what will be called "Levels of Achievement." This has been in the works for six months and will be rolled out with the new web design the first part of next year.

Hello Jessedoc. Yes, that's a tongue block study song, so you're going to tongue block everything. The standard tongue block embouchure is where you place your lips over four holes, blocking the three holes to the left. For hole 3 your tongue covers holes 1 and 2, as well as a little bit of the wood to the left of hole 1. For hole 2 your tongue covers hole 1 and a little bit to the left of it. For hole 1 you switch your tongue to the right to cover hole 2, or holes 2 and 3 if you wish to have a slightly larger embouchure. Best wishes on your studies.
