I was all set to buy a Laney Cub 10 having looked at David's reviews only to then discover that they don't make them anymore. I then had a look at the VHT Special 6 but these are not widely available in the UK. Moving away from genuine tube amps I was wondering if anyone has used a Roland Blues Cube? They seem to be well reviewed by guitarists.

I'll be interested in reading comments. While I've owned some great tube amps, one of my go-to's for harp, guitar, banjo, etc., is a Roland Cube 30. Great sounds for a solid-state. I see that Robben Ford is now an endorser for the Blues Cube. That's saying something. He's a straight-shooter when it comes to products, and a Professor Extraordinaire when it comes to guitar tone. (He's famous for the sounds he gets from his Dumble custom amp, but I understand that it stays home or in the studio, and that Ford gets really creative with amps supplied to him when he's on the road.) Roland makes good products, and their 30-W Blues Cube looks like a good price point.

I've ordered a second hand Boss Nextone Stage on EBay. From what I gather it uses similar technology to the Blues Cube but allows customisation via editing software.

I don't have the experience or expertise to make recommendations but having had a few days to play around with this amp I can say that I'm really pleased with it - it sounds great to me. There are quite a few presets, a lot of scope for customisation plus reverb and delay.
