Hey,

We had a discussion a while on this subject but I have a new question. First of all, apologies if you have already covered this but I don't see a search engine.

I get it that the rocket and Special 20 reed plates are alike. However, the Rocket covers have only one set of holes that is nearer to the mouthpiece while the Special 20 is slightly off center which to me, provides a better distribution of clamping force thus creating a better seal.

Should the Rocket and Rocket Pro be modified or am I missing something?

Thanks

Front reedplate attachment

Many customizers use front placement of cover screws. Here's why.

Where are the reedplate screws? Mostly along the back of the reedplate.

What clamps the front of the reedplate to the comb? Nothing.

Front placement of covers is meant to add clamping along the front of the reedplate.

The Rocket, being marketed as an upgrade to the Special 20 design, uses that placement to improve airtightness.

Ahhh

ahhh, I see. I thought the air tightness necessary is by having a seal along all four sides of the covers to the reed plates.

What I think threw me off was the Crossover and Marine Bands having 4 screws thereby even cover pressure.

Now I see why. Thank you yet again !!!
