A thank you to Kinya for all his passion that he shows in his own work and in responses to all of our questions.

Invaluable !!!!

Today I completed changing out the comb in my Rocket to a Blue Moon Brass Comb and worked a little more at setting it up. And again with Kinya's lessons as a constant tutorial, I am getting better at my own harp tech.

I am working on resposiveness and searching for the sweet spots thorugh gapping but I find it hard to know what to do with the 7-10 reed gaps as I am really not sure what im looking for here? Playinging all the blows, draws and blow bends just fine.

I am new to overblows .2 months...so thats a challenge as well that I will overcome. I can now get the 5 and 6 only as it is set up now. 4 is elusive.

is it me? for sure !

The tool...

Its an awesome harp that needs just a wee bit more tweakage I think.

Suggestions?

John

Hi John, if you are able to

Hi John, if you are able to hit #5 and #6--that tells me you have set the proper gapping.

#4 is more challenging, because the blow and draw notes are essential to your core playing--and if you set the blow reed too low, you are setting yourself up for a disasterous performance. The blow #4 will stick/stall.

I strongly recommend you write Ross Garrans (Forum/Over Blow), he is an absolute expert at proper OB techniques.

Tips

I did check the great tip!

The slight bend in the draw reed of the old G Harp I was able to manually take out using a variation of your setting the zero point lesson.  Although a disk would make the job easier, I diligently flat sanded the reed and I'm happy with it. Now on to setting up the gapping. 1 blow is a bit airy for my liking.
