Rock Harmonica
Hi David,
I've just heard Butter Strut and thought that it absolutely brilliant. Have you any more rock harmonica recordings/lessons which I can purchase so that I may learn. Being into classic rock, Blues Rock and Country Rock, this is the direction that I eventually want to concentrate on with my Harmonica playing.
Many Thanks,
Paul
This is an area of interest to me, too. Paul, I assume that you have Dave's Rock book, with "Butter Strut" and "Whammer Jam" both tabbed out. The book also really helps you figure out how to make your normal licks much more aggressive. In addition, I would recommend looking around on YouTube for Paul Butterfield harmonica licks.
I found a good lesson on "Work Song": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPMGpAKBTzw
Here's "Born in Chicago": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ez2wF8Da30A Paul Butterfield lick lesson: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fL6UeSovejE
This is a start. Hope it helps.
Cool, I'm glad you liked it Paul. I don't have any more, sorry, but there are a plethora of great blues players who can play the hell out of rock to study... Paul Butterfield, Mark Ford, Andy Just, Magic Dick, Kim Wilson, Pat Ramsey, Jason Ricci, etc. Go to the well and start studying.
