Hi David,
Another question on Rock, Blues Rock Harmonica. I'm trying to figure out a practice schedule for this type of genre of music. I think I should include :
- 3rd Position
- 1st Position
- 2nd position
- overblows
- Double stops, articulations etc........
Can you think of anything else I should include in my practice list.
Thank you for your help
Regards,
Paul
Hello Paul.
I would leave out 1st Position, it's not as common in rock.
I don't personally use overbending (nor do early rock players like Magic Dick, Huey Lewis, John Mayall, Lee Oskar, etc.), but it's smart to add it to your repertoire (it sure sounds great in the hands of players like Jason Ricci).
Yes, all the textures you mentioned, and more... that's at the heart of great blues and rock playing.
Scales and music theory will be very important... so make sure to add that to your practice.
