Hi David,

I'm curious if you have ever transcribed this performance from East Meets West at Moe's. Really powerful straight ahead harp here. I love it. I'd love to see any tabs that might exist. At the very least I wonder exactly what he is doing with that repeating lick at about 4:17. The lick is one thing but the way the band builds the energy really makes it. I just discovered this album last night so I have not dug in at all.

Thanks in advance!

SJ

Hello SJ. I have not

Hello SJ. I have not transcribed that song, but I can tell you what RJ is doing. He's playing a draw chord (holes 1 through 3) and then 4+ 4' 4+ repetitively.

Ah-ha! That's it exactly.  It never ceases to amaze how I overcomplicate when trying to transcribe. It's almost always more simple than my first few attempts. I suppose it's an essential part of the process. Thanks!

Now that I've done this one

Now that I've done this one to death. I'm curious what your general rundown of the second RJ track on this album, Moe's Blues. Am I hearing 3rd Position? Does he switch harps toward the end? How the hell do I get that tone!? (just kidding...kind of)

Thanks!

Hello Stalwart. Yeah, 3rd

Hello Stalwart. Yeah, 3rd Position on C Harp. At 2:04 he switches to the C Chromatic (3rd). And then at 2:47 he switches to 2nd Position (G Harp). Getting that tone... practice over time :-)

So continuing down the track

So continuing down the track list of this album, I'm on to Gary Smith, You Can't Hurt Me No More. Given your connection with Gary is this something you've transcribed? I plan on digging into it either way but any tabs/insight are welcome.

Thanks professor!

Hello Stalwart. I have not,

Hello Stalwart. I have not, but enjoy the transcribing process (I transcribe everyday and find it very beneficial to my playing and understanding of the harmonica).
