Looking at your Improvising book I noticed the list of instrumentals recommended for study near the back of the book. I have several of the songs on CD and all but one of the remainder are available for free on Grooveshark which works fine if your computer ot tablet is connected to external speakers to give a bit of volume and bottom end. Going through the list of instrumentals I didn't notice any that are rhumba based. Can you recommend one for study?

Answer

Sure, my two favorites are "Minor Mambo" by Gary Smith on Blues Harp Meltdown, Disc. 1 and "El Gado Rumba Azul" by Curtis Salgado on Hit It 'n Quit It.

Curtis

Checked them both out and they're great. Like the way Gary tells us the key is G and warns the band about an upcoming break. Not familiar with Curtis so will look for more songs and watch your interviews. Sounds like lots of punchy blues but with a tendency towards acoustic guitars for a rootsy feel.
