Hello Harp Techs, present to me a good solo and I will show you clever improvisation. If you don’t have a Richard Sleigh reed removal tool, or Seydel reed removal pliers, why not improvise?

This anvil has a perfect receiving hole for our harmonica reed rivet heads

The head of the rivet will nest perfectly in the hole of the anvil

Position the head of the rivet inside the hole of the anvil, then place your punch over the opposite end of the rivet head. Next, with a tap from a hammer--punch out the rivet with a center punch. You’re punch is not pointy enough? Try this:

Use a sanding/belt sander to form the perfect point on your punch

Perfect!

Cool

Kinyasan

More than one way to skin a cat! I couldn't find the Sleigh reed removal tool so this perfect and probably cheaper. Once again thanks for the tip.
