Hello Fritz,

I would like your opinion on the Recession Microphone!

If I bought a Astatic by Hohner JT30 Microphone from Musiciansfriend for $69.99 removed the crystal element (if it sounds awful) and purchased a CM or CR element from Ebay, will it fit and which model element would you recommend?

The JT-30 body & grill give you 2 1/16" and 2 3/16" to play with respectively. Most mic elements will fit within these tolerances. Achieving a SOLID fit will typically require a good gasket (another topic). As for choosing a replacement element, it depends on what you seek to achieve sonically. There are dozens of possible candidates. One point to be aware of when integrating one component with another is the suitability of the on-board potentiometer's ohms resistance.
