Just a shout out that I am really enjoying the tip of the day section. Very practical and immediately useful.

Now I just question your motives............are you trying to get us permanently addicted to this site? :)

Good to meet you Hank!

Actually Hank, in a sense you are not a total stranger to me, I have been reading the forum daily since in started on December 20th. You have posted a lot of comments and it appears you are a proficient player with gigging experience.

I have no gigging experience, just playing for family and friends at this point. So as far as starting a support group, it would seem I'd get the better deal by gaining from your experience as well as others!

At any rate.........it great to meet (somewhat more personally) another aspiring harmonica player!

By the way, my name is Ron and I did not know I was a harpoholic until family and friends had an intervention with me. :)

They agreed to let me go through David's multi-step training program to make me a more productive harpoholic. Because remember....you are never cured....once a harpoholic, always a harpoholic.

Yup - sure enuff!!

Hey Ron - yeah it is addictive! And just to set the record straight - I'd describe myself as enthusiastic but certainly not proficient (YET!!) I've been playing for almost 4 years and have enjoyed every minute!!

I enjoy going to jams strictly because I enjoy playing with others. I have yet to "gig" (play a practiced set of songs with a set group). I find the jams energizing ( and sometimes frustrating) and they certainly give me incentives because I find out (sometimes the hard way) what I need to work on!! I encourage anyone to try to find another player or more to jam with to get that kind of experience. It is much more demanding than playing to a backing track - which I find to be next best.

My experience with jams is that for the most part other players are accepting once they know you are trying to fit in and are respecting what a jam is all about. If you are playing for family and friends, you are on the way!! Good for you. This is a great site for gathering like minded people together. Keep enjoying it Ron - If we are going to have an addiction, this is a pretty good one to have!!!

Yes it is a good addiction and thankfully we have David Barrett's 12 Bar program to see us through this addiction!

Love the tip of the day. Gives me something to think about even on the days I don't have time to blow.

Tip 'O the Day

+1000. These tips are great. I've been traveling so much lately that I haven't really had the time to sit down and practice much, or even peruse the site. I do always, however, take a quick peek at the latest tip.

You should perhaps consider a small pocket guide of these tips once you get a passel of them. It would be a handy booklet to have available.
