Hello David

As an old wind insturment guy I leanred to read notes on the staff.  Working with Tablature is different.  Now I tend to look at 4+ I play a 4blow.  I really dont focus much on the note on staff.

Is it important to play from the staff?  My guess is that it's not that important and it might be more important to develop a keen ear for the tones.

Hello gwknopp. You're right,

Hello gwknopp. You're right, your ear is more important in this style of music. With that said, we only read music in one key... key of G on your C harmonica in 2nd Position. If you want to learn, it won't take much time. The advantage is that if you know the notes, the notes have relations (how the note relates to the chord, for ex.). There is value in that. The choice, is yours (how much practice time you have).
