Is anyone else having problems importing certain MP3 jam tracks from Dave's lessons into Cakewalk Music Creator 6? Some of the MP3 files work great while others give a fatal error and fail to import.

Problems Importing Jam Tracks into Cakewalk

So far the only advice from Cakewalk tech support is that they think Dave's MP3 jam tracks may contain DRM copyright protection. I don't think they know what they're talking about, since MP3 files cannot contain DRM. This problem only seems to occur with some of Dave's newer jam tracks. His older jam track files work just fine with Cakewalk.

Hello Michael. I don't normally see these posts, but ran across yours today and thought I would chime in. I don't do anything special with the files. What you may want to do is use a basic program that can import the files and then export them as .wav or .mp3 again, with the sole purpose of stripping it of any underlying issues with your system. I know Cakewalk should be able to do this, but it looks like using another program to do this may help this situation.

Thanks, David. That's the same solution offered by Cakewalk tech support. They suggested using iTunes to re-export the files. It took a couple of days for tech support to get back to me, and during that time I re-exported the files using Audacity, so that works, too. The weird thing is this issue only affects some of the newer files, for example the ones in the Accompaniment lessons 2 & 3. What's different about these newer files vs. the MP3s in Tongue Blocking Study 1 & 2, Bending Study 2 and 3rd Position Study 1? All those others work without any issue.

Glad you found a workaround. My process has not changed... but I'm sure some update in some software somewhere has changed what it does in the background.
