I've been a longtime Tascam Practice machine user. Starting with the CD-GT1, then upgrading to the MP-GT1, and then the DR1 which is what I use now.

I always wished my iPod could do the same thing. As it is I have to transfer everything I want to learn from my iPod to my DR1.

Well, there is now a FREE app for the iPod that can slowdown and loop without changing pitch. I'm checking it out now but I think it may replace my DR1 (which I paid about $225 for on sale).

One thing I like is you can name and save phrases. Very handy. Will be giving it a thorough workout shortly.

It's called "Slow Down Music Trainer".

You can check it out at

or google it.

Good one

I've been using it for a while and agree completely. The latest version is great and has included some useful improvements like bringing songs to the list straight from ITunes instead f having to import them from the computer. It also has a WiFi import feature which has been useful. Highly recommended for "on the road" practice.

loop start & stop

another nice feature is when saving phrases to loop you use two little sliders, one for the start point and one for the stop point. David's transcription have the start time for each chorus printed right on them so you can easily split the song into a separate phrase for each chorus just be referring to these times.

saving the phrases is an improvement over the Tascam where you can't save phrases.

I also had a chance to try changing the pitch (only had one harp in the truck), which worked great.

I really like this little app!
