Hi Greg,

I've got a NOS in box japanese crystal element. The box says : philmore CM300 crystal mic replacement cartridge.
Are you familiar with those? I have not tested it yet. You might know these elements and know that they are rubbish. If so, then I don't need to bother testing it. Atleast it does not rattle and has no corrosion on the back.

Hi, Jack Those can be good

Hi, Jack

Those can be good elements if I recall. Haven't seen one in years. Crystals CAN go bad even sitting on the shelf, especially if they're not in an airtight container like a ziplock (which didn't exist back then.) But their chances are still better as NOS than when used. You may have a real find - only thing to do is test it!

I've made myself a cable with a 1/4" plug at one end and test clips at the other. With a little practice you can simply cup the element in your hand - you don't need to install it in a shell to test it.

Thanks for your answer Greg.

Thanks for your answer Greg. I'm surprised to hear that you actually know these elements since I can find absolutely nothing on the internet about it. I'll go and test it and hope I've got a good one.
