I ordered one of these from Amazon and I'm very happy with using it for embossing and gapping.  It's only slightly bigger than an iPad.  It has a USB rechargeable battery so you can slip it in your harmonica case and take it with you to Starbucks or wherever you do your harp adjusting.  The plastic surface feels sturdy enough.  I'm sure it will scratch up easily but I don't think it matters.  Also it has an adjustable brightness level which is a huge plus for me.  I wouldn't get a light box without an adjustable brightness.  Harp tinkering can be enough of a headache without a spotlight in your face.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

Super cool Taylor. Better yet

Super cool Taylor.

Better yet (of course) will be the new Richard Sleigh Harp Tech Light Box; specifically:

  1. reference targets to align our "master" eye to the reed slots (we're talking precision here, Babies)
  2. a full clearance slot on the table surface, that will enable the Harp Tech to emboss, then plink, and pivot the reeds--all without having to pull the reed plate off the table (amazing time saver, when talking about processing hundreds of reeds)
  3. stabilizing fence to perfectly align the reed plate across the horizontal plane
  4. small, light weight and portable
  5. drawer for tools

Your Harpsmith, Kinya
