Pausing lessons with gratitude for all we have learned.
David -
My wife and I came to this site becasue we found a subscription offer with our Special 20s. The harmonica is not our first instrument, and we have had numerous instructors over the years. We both think this site, your teaching methods and the material you offer are first rate!
My wife is happy that we started this as it has us playing music together more, but she is working and has other musical interests.
I am stopping lessons for now, but continuing to play harmonica and try to gain better technique, get a few straight harp tunes in my bag ("Good King Wenceslas", " Johnny Cash youtube - "Sweet Betsy from Pike", "Old Susana" that sort of thing), work on playing the draw notes in tune, and getting clean single notes when I tongue block left or right, draw or blow.
I think the subscription cost is very reasonable, you know what private lessons cost in the Bay Area! I expect to be back in a month or two, prepared to start learning some blues harmonica.
BTW, my introduction to the harmonica lead me to “Harmonicas, Harps and Heavy Breathers“ by Kim Fields, a wonderful history of the instrument and the history of so many of musicians.
Thank you for the hard work you have done to make learning this instrument fun, and for your determination to get your students to “Learn it right the first time”.
Best Regards,
Rob

Enjoy the show!
Hi,
I did not want to make a new thread and unnecessarily clutter the forum, i felt this would be a good place for me to express my gratitude aswell, i hope Passerinus doesnt mind!
I wish to second the above posters comments, your teaching style is great and really helps! Just got my first harmonica at the weekend and have started learning to play "properly" (edit- i realised this could be taken the wrong way, i meant properly as opposed to just trying to teach myself blowing away on my harp no doubt picking up all sorts of bad habits!) with the correct techniques right from the start thanks to your work! Great stuff David, keep up the great work!
Thank you!
Jamie
Thank you Jamie, very kind of you. Best wishes on your studies.
Thank you Rob, very kind of you to write. I'll look forward to working with you when you're back on the site.
P.S., you probably know this, but Mark Hummel's Blues Harmonica Blowout will be in Felton Saturday... a show not to miss.
P.P.S., Kim Fields has agreed to do an interview when we cross paths next time :-)
Take care
