Hello Paul Butterfield fans,

Last night I received a text from Andy Just announcing the upcoming Induction of Paul Butterfield to the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame--later confirmed through the cyberweb.

Paul Butterfield had a huge influence over many musicians (Gary Smith, Andy Just, The Ford Brothers, David Sanborn, me, just to name a few ;o)

Paul Butterfield R&R Hall of Fame

Truly one of the greats. In the introductory to Paul's harp instruction book "Sessions with a Legendary Player" (published 1997) guitarist Happy Truam says that in the months before his death in 1987, Paul "...appeared in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremonies inducting his old mentor Muddy waters"

How fitting that Paul should finally join Muddy amongst the greats.

Of the numerous harmonica books/tuitations I've collected over the years, Paul Butterfiled's instructional book is unique. Softly spoken and softly sung, almost completley acoustic, much of it unacompanied and full of nuance, it is instantly recognisable to any harp player who has been moved by his music. It's as if Paul is sitting in the room with you.

Don't know if Kinya has more info on the recording of Pauls instructional - the date(s) of its recording would be interesting rather than the date of publication 10 years after his death.

Hello Phil, good to hear from

Hello Phil, good to hear from you.

Thank you for the wonderful sentiments. My copy of "Paul Butterfield Teaches" is the later CD set as well. My understanding was that the original cassette tape version had more nuggets for the Butter aficionado.
