I am trying to get my head wraped around some things.

Tunings: Richter, Paddy, Music maker, ect. They change the actual notes available on the harp.

Temprements: Richter, Original Blues, Alt-1&2, Original MB, Modern MB, 12 tet, ect are recipes noting the cent deviation from equal.

The part tha's confusing is I see these terms interchanged quite a bit. I want to get it straight in my mind so that if I ask you a question we are both talking about the same thing.

Sooo a couple of years ago you gave a gentleman the recipe for Paddy tuning, and he sent back a recording of Si Bheag Si Mhor. H really smoked that didn't he.. Man O Man... Any way that's what started me with all this thinking. Scary isn't it.

Thanks......Mike

Hi Mike, your recap of the

Hi Mike, your recap of the terminology is correct. The main point to remember is that an infinitely (scary) amount of music can be performed on a harmonica. General awareness of the notes required to create your favorite song will help you select the right tuning and temperament.

Your Harpsmith, Kinya
