one week into bluesharmonica.com.   Any ideas how to handle all the paperwork and file them, So far I have colored files, one color for my hand written note, one for lessons, one for music theory, another for my favorate lesson licks (which i have copied and taped on another sheet with the corresponding MP3 location)  I am not crazy, but the organization is a challenge.  Any ideas now to keep the paperwork in a system?

Hello dogcatbug, welcome to

Hello dogcatbug, welcome to site. Most students print the material and use a binder with sections (or multiple binders, one per subject ). Using different colored folders on your computer works as well.

dogcatbug:

If you're handy with computer files and use a laptop or pad, David's idea of setting up labled and colored folders to store PDFs or other formats of charts, notes, etc., and links to related MP3s, sounds really good.

I'm sort of "Mr. Analog," though, and do print things, then put the pages into 3-hole plastic covers, and into 3-ring binders, one binder for "future" or "not much used" stuff, and one that I keep on my music stand for lessons, practice, etc. I then load the songs and backing tracks I'm currenty using for practice into The Amazing Slow Downer app on my laptop, which I use on a stand in my practice area.

The only problem with my method is that I frequently pull transcription charts out of my current binder to take with me on travel, and then instead of putting them right back in order, sometimes leave them strewn about. Sometimes for months.

Let us all know what ends up working best for you!
